Lore and myth about The Bosom

Several things could show up here. For example, some of you might ask 'Why did you change from the much easier computer-based text to hand-lettering after the end of strip 12 (It's full of stars)?' A shorter answer than the rant that might otherwise follow is this: I really wanted the strip to be hand-drawn as much as possible, but I didn't believe I could get the lettering to work by hand without it taking waaaay too much time and frustration. Then I decided I could do it after all.

Now, here's the rant to go with that. Growing up, I loved comic strips, starting with Peanuts originally, then quickly finding BC and Wizard of Id, and moving on from there. I managed to learn a bit about drawing, and could copy most of the characters from BC pretty well, but a recurrent theme in my education was 'you have horrible handwriting'. Charles Schultz once talked about how important the lettering work was for Peanuts, so I just resigned myself to not being able to do good lettering and typed everything like I had since late high school. But I finally had the confidence to treat the lettering as just a detailed form of drawing, and decided to make the leap. I like the strip better for it, and it gives me a lot of options I had a really hard time doing on a computer without software that costs a lot more per month than I could manage (Achoo-dobe). If you like the look, great and thank you. If not, I kinda have to wonder why you found your way to the Lore page anyway. --- Didi, 20 July, 2025.
